Dartmoor, Devon
Dartmoor is home, my back yard and close to my heart, the stunning granite rocky outcrops, hawthrorn trees, colourful heathers, rowan trees, moods and mists, with beautiful Dartmoor ponies, and free roaming live stock.
Its wide-open moorland, weathered granite tors, winding tracks and far-reaching views offer something different with every visit. One moment the landscape can feel vast and exposed; the next, a patch of sunlight or a detail in the grass draws your attention somewhere much closer.
This gallery brings together my Dartmoor landscape photography, capturing the distinctive scenery of this part of Devon alongside the wildlife and rural nature that make it such a special place. The weather is a big part of its appeal. Moving cloud, low mist, forever changing seasons and sudden breaks of sunlight can transform a scene in minutes, creating opportunities for both colour and black and white photography. For me, Dartmoor is a landscape worth returning to, with something new to notice every time.
